On June13 The Zionist Entity launched an unprovoked attack against the Islamic Republic of Iran, thereby escalating its war of aggression. The excuse used by the war criminal Netanyahu’s genocidaire government was that Iran was “weeks away from developing a nuclear bomb”. This mantra has been repeated by the Zionist entity for decades. Iran has signed the non-proliferation treaty and as such is subject to inspections and monitoring by the IAEA. Iran has maintained that its nuclear program is for peaceful civil use not military. Negotiations with the US for a new agreement replacing the one signed between Iran and the US during the Obama administration and from which, later the US has withdrawn under the first Trump administration, were scheduled to begin days after the attack. The Zionist entity which is engaged for almost two years now in a committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and whose government officials, ministers and members of Knesset, have repeatedly and publicly voiced their intentions of ethnically cleansing Gaza and murdering Palestinians has no moral and no legal grounds in its attack on Iran. The attack was supported and green-lighted by the US. As Iran retaliated against the Zionist entity’s unprovoked attack, the US came to its aid and bombed several Iranian facilities and infrastructure.
The declared objective of both the US and the Zionist entity is destroying Iran’s nuclear capability and a regime change by one that is loyal to the imperialist West to ensure US and its client the Zionist entity’s dominance and hegemony in the region. Installing a compliant, client, Western-allied regime in Iran is a strategic goal for the US in its imperial designs to challenge Russian and Chines influence in Asia and control over oil and other natural resources in the region and the supremacy of the US dollar as the international trading currency. This war is an imperialist war benefiting capital and the corporations. It is a war against the poor, working class, and indigenous peoples and their right to self-determination. It is a war targeting a foreign country exercising its sovereignty but it is also linked to the war against workers and people of color in the US.
We Socialist Party USA People of Color Commission stand in solidarity with Iran and the Iranian people against the Zionist and US imperialist attacks and we stand in solidarity with the working class, the immigrant, and people of color communities in the US against the racist attacks to silence voices of dissent and advocacy against genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
