The Socialist Party USA condemns, without reservation or qualification, the violence and brutality that has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of residents of Gaza and throughout historic Palestine in recent months.. full statement

Statement on Freedom of Information Access

passed by the National Executive Committee

The ongoing Rightist campaign against libraries, books, and librarians has exponentially increased across the United States. Their attacks serve to undermine the freedom of citizens to read, endanger intellectual freedom generally, and vilify librarians for engaging in their archival profession. Now more than ever, we need solidarity in opposition to these abuses. full statement

Solidarity with the Railway Workers in their Fight for Better Working Conditions

Statement Drafted by the SPUSA Labor Working Group and passed by the National Executive Committee

The Socialist Party stands in solidarity with the railway workers in their fight for better working conditions.

The railroad industry is a multi-billion dollar industry structured as a non-competitive oligopoly dominated by seven rail carriers that has doubled its profit margins during the pandemic, has engaged in buybacks, and is essentially forcing its workers to be on call at a moments notice, regardless if they are sick or injured.... full statement

Solidarity with the Mine Workers Striking Against Warrior Met Coal

Statement Drafted by the SPUSA Labor Working Group and passed by the National Executive Committee

...Warrior Met is undeniably guilty of acts of violence against these workers. The strikers have bravely endured terrible abuse by Warrior Met’s vigilantes and private security companies which are attempting to break the strike and weaken the union. The State of Alabama has demonstrated its complicity in this ongoing travesty by having its state troopers escort scab labor into the mines. .. full statement

Full Reproductive Rights for all People

Statement drafted by the SPUSA Women’s Commission and passed by the National Action Committee

The Socialist Party USA supports full reproductive rights for all people, including the right to choose abortion. Through decades of legal maneuvering and trickery, abortion has become effectively unobtainable for most people in the United States, robbing us of our basic right of bodily sovereignty. The hypocrisy of those who want to limit reproductive freedom is on full display, as they cry 'my body, my choice'... full statement

20 Year Occupation of Afghanistan

October 1, 2021 - Anti-War Working Group/National Action Committee

In Fall 2001, the Socialist Party USA held its biennial convention and discussed the then-recent attacks of September 11, 2001, and the beginning phases of what became the twenty-year-long USA-led War in Afghanistan. The Convention produced a statement that condemned any moves toward war while calling on the government of the USA and the people to pursue peaceful resolution of the conflict. full statement

Statement in Solidarity with Palestine

May 21, 2021- Anti-War Working Group/National Action Committee

On the morning of one of the holiest days on the Muslim calendar, Eid al-Fitr, residents of the Gaza Strip woke to Israeli government aerial strikes. The attack came immediately before May 15th, the 73rd anniversary of Nakba, the day when 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced from their homeland. full statement

COVID is Sickening Us; Capitalism is Killing Us

February 23, 2021 - National Action Committee

Our nation passed a grim milestone this week as we mark half a million lives lost to the COVID-19 pandemic. We reach this sad benchmark not far beyond the one year anniversary of the start of the outbreak. The Socialist Party extends its sincerest condolences to all the families who have lost loved ones to COVID-19. While it is true that in a pandemic of this sort many people were going to die, it should in no way escape attention that the scale of the death toll in this country is also a direct product of the ineptitude, partisanship, and shameless profiteering by the dual parties of capital in their response to the crisis. Americans have every right to feel angry and betrayed by the so-called "leaders" of the bourgeois political class. full statement

Conflict in Yemen: Why It Must Stop

February 22, 2021 - National Action Committee

Socialist solidarity extends past family, friends, local, regional, and state community. It does not acknowledge arbitrary borders and does not subdivide them into race, creed, and color. Compassion, empathy, and respect are the foundations of a Socialist solidarity that discriminates only between dominated and dominator, exploiter and exploited. While we may be separated nominally into ‘Yemeni’ and ‘American’, we can just as easily be unified by ‘comrade.’ As comrades, we struggle in unity towards self-sovereignty. full statement

Statement of Solidarity for Indian Workers

February 2, 2021- National Action Committee

In the wake of years of governmental deregulation and privatization, the Modi regime has sought to centralize its command over India’s agricultural sector with the goal of streamlining the corporate acquisition of farmers’ produce. This culminated with the ratification of the 2020 Indian Agricultural Acts, which enables major corporations to have effectively unrestricted access to the entirety of India’s agricultural markets. full statement

Statement on the Inauguration

January 21, 2021 - National Action Committee

Inauguration Day is a moment on the American political calendar in which most think both of the past four years, as well as the four years to come. This time around there is much food for thought as citizens all over the country attempt to grapple with the not only the last four years, but especially the Jan.6 and what this all means for the future of our country, but also for themselves and their families. full statement

Post-Election Statement

December 6, 2020 - National Action Committee

After several weeks of preposterous and self-serving legal challenges, and an absolutely ludicrous -and continuing- disinformation campaign led by the President himself, the dust has settled on the 2020 election. The decisive winner was the ruling class, the capitalists.  full statement

Congratulations to Hawkins/Walker on Securing the 2020 Green Party Nomination

July 13, 2020 - National Action Committee

Almost nine months ago, the Socialist Party National Convention overwhelmingly voted to embark on a new course of electoral action. Rather than nominate a traditional presidential campaign, we answered the call of left unity by nominating Howie Hawkins for President in 2020. This nomination was made in the knowledge that he was also seeking the Green Party nomination, as well as support from across the US Left as a whole. full statement

Beyond Bernie: An Open Letter to Sanders Supporters

April 13, 2020 - National Action Committee

If we have learned one thing from Bernie Sanders’ two presidential campaigns, it is that radical politics cannot be advanced from within the Democratic Party. This is not a criticism of the hard work done by countless volunteers on the Sanders campaign, but an indictment on a party that will do everything up to and including rigging its own presidential primaries to prevent meaningful change. full statement

Statement on the Coronavirus Pandemic Response

April 11, 2020 - National Committee

This time of disruption is unlike anything most of us have ever experienced. We urge everyone to remain calm and to take care of comrades, family, friends and neighbors. Now more than ever we need solidarity. The COVID-19 pandemic has produced, and will continue to produce, a multitude of different kinds of needs and vulnerabilities. Before it ends, many of us will be affected in one way or another, and only the support of our communities will get us through. ... full statement

Statement on the Fires in the Amazon

September 6, 2019 - National Action Committee

The Amazon is burning. These fires, enabled by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro for the profit of giant agribusiness, are a deliberate tactic to clear land for development. The Insitiututo Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais reported a 79% increase in forest fires from this same period in 2018. As promised by the Bolsonaro regime, large hectares of Amazon forest will be opened up for Western development ..... full statement
