Socialist Party USA Statement on the 2026 Elections

November 6, 2026
In this year's midterm elections, much of America voiced their frustration, anger, and rage with the Trump regime's far-right agenda over the last two years. They did so in the most acceptable way the state allows: the bourgeois electoral system.
Many Democrats that secured offices, ran on populist policies that activists on the ground have been working years towards. The question of whether or not these electoral victories will yield tangible results, especially at the Federal level, remains to be seen. The demands of the people to the new Federal government are clear: Abolish ICE, End the Genocide in Gaza, prosecute Trump and others identified in the Epstein Files, pass Universal Healthcare reform, create immediate paths to citizenship for those who wish it, lift the embargo of Cuba, end the war with Iran, seek to mediate an end to the war in Ukraine, codify abortion rights at a Federal level, and begin the process of Land Back.
After November 3rd, the Democrats now have commanding control of both the House and the Senate. There no longer remains an excuse not to act on any of these things or the myriad of other issues facing the American public. We would remind the new majority that the Trump administration has pulled no punches over the past year, using the full weight of its power to intimidate and persecute Americans, as well as its political opposition. Now is the time to strike against the fascist Trump regime, not retreat.
The Socialist Party's commitment remains the same today as it was yesterday: "[We] stand for the abolition of every form of domination and exploitation, whether based on social class, gender, race/ethnicity, age, education, sexual orientation, or other characteristics. We are committed to the abolition of capitalism through the creation of a socialist society based on compassion, empathy, and respect." Regardless of what the Democratic Party does or does not do, we will continue to organize for a world which works for everyone, not just an elite few.
The Socialist Party would also like to extend its congratulations to all its members who ran for office, including Joshua Bradley's hard-fought campaign in Raleigh. The need for third-party alternatives has never been greater and we appreciate the tireless efforts of all our comrades to provide an option to their electorates.
The Socialist Party encourages all its members and people to continue to organize. If history teaches us anything, it is that the fight does not end simply at the ballot box. In fact, it has just begun! Agitate! Educate! Organize! We have a world to win! Join us!
