Samantha "Sam" Pree-Stinson who was elected to the Minneapolis Board of Estimate and Taxation

Socialist Part of Twin Cities Metro member Samantha Pree-Stinson was elected to the Minneapolis Board of Estimate and Taxation on November 2, 2021.

From Samantha

"Historic win. In 2017, we got knocked down but we came back stronger than ever this election. Our strategy was simple, engage with people authentically and make sure they are fully informed. We reached out everywhere we could.

Money can absolutely play a role in elections but so can powerful coalition building and grassroots organizing. We showed that.

In the coming weeks, I'll be saying more about what I'm hoping we can do together. Most importantly, we are ready to make moves. No more stagnant decision paralysis. People are hurting and how we direct funding though levy and handle our bonding process will determine just how much progress we can make to dismantle the systemic harms inherited.

I am a proud Northeaster in Minneapolis, a Black Chicana veteran who organized around economic justice. We will now have 2 Black elected officials in Ward 1.

Like I said 2 years ago, economic justice is absolutely part of safety. Let's invest in ourselves Minneapolis. I'm ready to represent us with integrity to come January and take this board seat to the next level.

Congratulations to Steve Brandt, I look forward to getting to know you and work with you. Thank you Pine for running with a strong and clear platform.

With revolutionary respect and gratitude,

Sam"
