The Socialist Party of Baltimore took part in Baltimore's biggest May Day celebration in decades, speaking at the at the city public library's central branch.

Staff there unionized over two years ago but are still working to win their first new contract. The SP spoke on the importance of union organizing, but noted that when contract negotiations with a taxpayer-funded agency drags on for years, applying pressure to elected officials (Baltimore has an all-Democrat city council) by running against them is an important strategy.
The Socialist Party then joined the march downtown, which met up with six other marches from different points in the city. Over 1,000 people gathered to hear music, speakers, and celebrate the power of workers and our opposition to the corporate interests trying to take over Baltimore and the entire country.
