Sonya Emerick Elected to Minneapolis School Board
Socialist Party USA member, Sonya Emerick has won a spot on the Minneapolis School Board, coming second in the top-two election with over 52,000 votes. She will join SP member Adriana Cerrillo on the school board.
Sonia is a disability justiceadvocate, community organizer, and Minneapolis Public Schools parent and graduate. Sonya listed racism as “the biggest threat that we are facing as a district right now” and as a board member they will prioritize equitable access to education for all children. They want a new superintendent who also shares those priorities.
