The Twin Cities local held our last monthly picnic at Folwell Park in North Minneapolis. We shared hot dogs, cookies, and conversation with around twenty five members of the community (including a large number of kids!) One Grandma in particular seemed very happy to meet us saying "people always say what the community isn't doing for us, I say 'get involved!'”
On September 8th, the Socialist Party DC Local handed out sandwiches, soap, menstrual pads, bananas, socks, underwear, and coffee to people in need in central DC along with out friends at Socialist Snack Squad. Although mutual aid like this is important in helping improve the lives of the working poor in the short term, it is important for us to recognize the fact that charity and mutual aid will never be enough to end poverty and homelessness and so we used this opportunity
The Northern New Jersey Local hosted a Socialist Party contingent at the Botto House/American Labor Museum Labor Day Parade in Hadeldon New Jersey. The parade began at the historic Boto House, a gathering point for the 1913 Paterson Silk Strike. The 2018 contingent was one of our largest.
